The Difference
Is in the Detail
From vessel maintenance to how meals are served, every aspect of the experience has been considered. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Back to HomeWhat You Get with ooceandi
Seven things that consistently matter to guests — and that we've built our operations around.
Maximum 8 Guests
The boat stays quiet. The crew has time for you. The deck doesn't feel crowded. This is non-negotiable.
Experienced Captains
All vessels are captained by holders of Marine Department Malaysia certification with extensive Johor Strait experience.
Fresh, Prepared Meals
Every meal is prepared fresh and adapted to dietary requirements. Food is part of what makes the day.
Full Safety Compliance
Licensed operator, insured vessels, SOLAS-standard equipment, and pre-departure briefings on every tour.
Flexible Routing
Routes are adapted to conditions and guest preference. No fixed timetable that ignores what the sea is doing.
Three Distinct Journeys
Morning cruise, full day island sail, or two-day overnight passage — each designed as a complete experience.
Responsible Operations
No waste at sea, reef-safe anchoring, Marine Parks Malaysia compliance. The places we sail are worth protecting.
Responsive Support
Questions answered, arrangements handled, special requests considered — before, during, and after the tour.
A Captain Who Knows These Waters
ooceandi's founder and primary captain holds a Master (Inland Waters) certificate from Marine Department Malaysia and spent 22 years on commercial vessels before starting the company. The routes we sail — the Johor Strait, the Singapore Strait, the Mersing archipelago — are waters he has navigated in all conditions over many years.
This matters practically: decisions about departure timing, route adjustment, and anchorage selection are made by someone with deep familiarity with local tidal patterns, weather windows, and maritime traffic.
- Marine Department Malaysia licensed captain
- 22+ years commercial and recreational maritime experience
- PADI-certified deckhand for dive and snorkel supervision
Navigation Standards
We use GPS chartplotters, marine VHF radio, and AIS transponders on all vessels. Navigation decisions take real-time maritime traffic, weather data, and tidal information into account.
Regular coastguard coordination ensures that our position is known on longer passages. Night navigation on the overnight tour follows established traffic separation schemes.
Catering That Matches the Tour
Morning departure: continental spread of pastries, granola, fruit, and coffee, arranged so guests can eat at their own pace rather than being served on a schedule.
Day sail: plated lunch at anchor — grilled barramundi, jasmine rice, stir-fried greens. Freshly prepared, not catered boxes.
Overnight passage: three-course dinner with wine pairing and a full brunch the following morning. The level of catering on a two-day voyage reflects the nature of the experience.
Meals as Part of the Experience
Food on a yacht tour can either be forgettable or part of what makes the day. We've chosen the latter. Each tour has a catering format appropriate to its length and style — not generic, not an afterthought.
- Freshly prepared for each departure
- Dietary requirements accommodated with 48 hours' notice
- Halal options available on request
- Non-alcoholic alternatives for all beverage pairings
Thoughtful From First Contact to Last
Our operations manager responds to enquiries personally — not through automated systems. Before your tour, you'll receive precise meeting instructions, a confirmed itinerary, and answers to any outstanding questions.
On the day, the crew is attentive without being intrusive. The aim is to be available when you need something and invisible when you don't.
- Personal response to all enquiries within 24 hours
- Pre-departure briefing pack with logistics detail
- Crew available throughout without over-presence
Pricing Transparency
The prices quoted include all meals, crew services, equipment, and port charges. There are no supplements added later for items that were always part of the tour.
MYR 1,060 for the morning cruise. MYR 3,000 for the full-day island sail. MYR 4,950 for the two-day overnight passage. These are the prices; they don't change based on group size within the eight-person maximum.

Features You Won't Find Elsewhere
Singapore Strait Night Passage
The overnight tour crosses the Singapore Strait after dark — one of the world's busiest shipping lanes, lit with the navigational lights of hundreds of vessels. It's a maritime spectacle that almost no tour operator in Malaysia offers. This alone makes the Southern Waters Overnight a singular experience.
Captain-Selected Snorkel Sites
On the Mersing Islands Day Sail, snorkel stops are chosen on the day by the captain based on current conditions, visibility, and which sites have been disturbed by recent traffic. You go where the reef is actually in good condition — not where it's convenient.
No Commentary Unless Invited
We don't deliver running commentary over a microphone. The Straits Morning Departure is designed for observation and quiet — guests ask questions when they want to, and the crew answers. The decision to stay quiet was deliberate.
Riau Waters Anchorage
The overnight tour anchors in the Riau Strait waters — south of Singapore, with open sea to the south and the distant lights of vessels on the horizon. It's an unusual and genuinely remote anchorage that few Malaysian tour operators reach.
